Fort Sam community honors Vietnam Veterans

Fort Sam Houston, Texas – Lt. Gen. William B. Caldwell IV speaks to Fort Sam Houston and San Antonio community members Nov. 7 during the Fort Sam Houston Vietnam Veterans’ 50th Anniversary Welcome Home Ceremony at the Staff Post Parade Field. Those in attendance gathered to thank and honor Vietnam War veterans and their families for their service to the nation. Following the ceremony, they formed a “Corridor of Thanks” as the Vietnam veterans walked through the corridor en route to Fort Sam Houston’s historic Quadrangle for a reception in their honor. Caldwell is the commanding general of U.S. Army North (Fifth Army) and senior commander of Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis.

Fort Sam Houston, Texas – The Vietnam Veteran procession makes it way up the Corridor of Thanks, flanked by members of the surrounding community, next to Staff Post Parade Field as it moves to the historic Quadrangle during the Fort Sam Houston Vietnam Veterans’ 50th Anniversary Welcome Home Ceremony. The Nov. 7 ceremony honored the Vietnam vets, their families, and the organizations supporting the Fort Sam and San Antonio communities who work on their behalf.

Fort Sam Houston, Texas – Service members representing the different commands from throughout Fort Sam Houston assembled on the Staff Post Parade Field Nov. 7 to honor Vietnam Veterans during the Vietnam Veterans’ 50th Anniversary Welcome Home Ceremony at the Staff Post Parade Field. Fort Sam Houston and San Antonio community members welcomed the veterans and their families home and thanked them for their service.

Brady, a Medal of Honor recipient and Vietnam veteran, served as the guest of honor.
