I continue to present to Vietnam veterans lapel pins and thank them for their service wherever I meet them. On November 2, 2022, I will make presentations at a Republican Women's luncheon. They are honoring Vietnam veterans & have invited me to do the honors. I always tell the recipients about the DOD Commemorative. You have allowed our Veterans to feel the warmth & gratitude of America.

Our members would like to present lapel pins to previously unrecognized Vietnam era veterans on an impromptu basis. We would like 20 more pins so that we have enough to provide one or two to every member who would like to do this.

When a Vietnam Veteran is awarded a Quilt of Valor, a Lapel Pin is also presented to the veteran. I anticipate hosting several ceremonies between now and the end of the Commemorative. I am nearly out pins, proclamations, and Fact Sheets and would appreciate whatever you can provide.

An “Honor Flight Tour” is simply a small token of our appreciation for everything they’ve done. Throughout their Midwest Honor Flight tour, the Veterans are thanked, recognized and admired for their service. They come home personally knowing how much their country loves them and respects them. Veterans will never forget this gratitude and adoration. During our time in DC, we will visit Arlington National Cemetery to witness the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We will also visit the Navy Memorial, Air Force Memorial, and Marine Corps Memorial. To finish the day, we will spend time at each of the war memorials as well - WWII Memorial, Korean War Memorial, and the Vietnam Veterans Wall and Memorial. After our day, we will return to Sioux Falls where hundreds of their family and friends surprise them with a Welcome Home in the Sioux Falls Arena - for some, they did not get a warm welcome when they returned from their service.
