I continue to present to Vietnam veterans lapel pins and thank them for their service wherever I meet them. On November 2, 2022, I will make presentations at a Republican Women's luncheon. They are honoring Vietnam veterans & have invited me to do the honors. I always tell the recipients about the DOD Commemorative. You have allowed our Veterans to feel the warmth & gratitude of America.

THE VIETNAM VETERANS WILL EACH RECEIVE A QUILT OF VALOR IN RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION OF THEIR MILITARY SERVICE. WE HOST THIS EVENT EVERY TWO MONTHS AS WE HAVE REQUESTS AND QOVS READY. AT THE TIME OF THE QOV PRESENTATION, WE HAVE BEEN PRESENTING THE VIETNAM LAPEL PIN, HOWEVER I HAVE USED MY FIRST 50 AND NEED TO REPLACE MY STOCK.

Our members would like to present lapel pins to previously unrecognized Vietnam era veterans on an impromptu basis. We would like 20 more pins so that we have enough to provide one or two to every member who would like to do this.

When a Vietnam Veteran is awarded a Quilt of Valor, a Lapel Pin is also presented to the veteran. I anticipate hosting several ceremonies between now and the end of the Commemorative. I am nearly out pins, proclamations, and Fact Sheets and would appreciate whatever you can provide.

Vietnam Veteran patients that are on Hospice along with any family who may have served in Vietnam as well are pinned and honored in a small private ceremony wherever the army be during they may be during their end of life journey.

The Rocky Mountain Honor Flight will be making four Honor Flights from Denver to Washington, D.C. in 2025. The majority (85% or more) of our honored veterans are Vietnam War veterans. We honor these heroes throughout the 3-day Flight and always have a special recognition at the Wall. The requested lapel pins will be part of our recognition on the Honor Flight and at the Wall of these men and women that served their country during the Vietnam War.

The names of quilt recipients residing in our area are sent to us from QOVF and we make contact with them to identify any special requests, if none, then we schedule them to attend one of our (three times per year) award ceremonies for the third Thursday of the month - March, July and November

Every year we gather to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of our incredible student veterans and our military affiliated students at the Annual Salute to Service Awards Banquet. We present awards to students, staff, and faculty in recognition for academic achievements and career preparedness, in service to out military affiliated students and student veterans, and we pay homage to those lost or who never returned home in a POW/MIA Missing Man presentation. This year, we invited the West Haven Vietnam Veteran organization to help set the Missing Man table with each Vietnam Veteran placing a item onto the table as current student and Marine Corps veteran, Nicole Hernandez, called off the item and it's significance on the table. The table, tablecloth, and chair were set, but the WHVV organization placed the single red rose, the yellow ribbon, the candle and ceremoniously lit it, the slice of lemon, the salt on the bread plate, inverted glass, and finally tilted the chair up reserved in remembrance of those who never returned home. Following this very special presentation, we presented awards to three individuals for their significant contributions to our veterans, and welcomed a new SALUTE National Honor Society cohort into our University of New Haven chapter ranks. We finally thanked and said farewell to long term and outstanding members of the VA Work Study team who are preparing to graduate in May. This is the first time we have presented the Missing Man table with our Vetnam Veteran friends helping to set the table, but we will continue this tradition every year henceforth.
