Since March, 2021, our non-profit mission is to FIND, THANK and REPAY over 19,000 Hoosier Vietnam Era Veterans. WHVV & community partners have held over 250 special “Welcome Home” events in ALL 92 Indiana Counties. A partnership with Indiana Daughters of the American Revolution has been a key component to many of these community events taking place and ensuring all Indiana public libraries and high schools have a donated copy of A Time To Honor. The last phase of the outreach program is to thank Veterans who reside in assisted living and nursing homes. Homebound Veterans are being honored with recognition.
We are planning our final “Welcome Home” event on National Vietnam War Veterans Day, Saturday, March 29th, 2025. The celebration event will include a luncheon, Huey Helicopter Flights provided by Columbus Indiana Huey and all attendees will receive a copy of A Time To Honor book/DVD. Our Honored Guest is Indiana’s only living Medal of Honor Recipient Sammy L. Davis. Invited guests include former Vice President Mike Pence, Indiana Governor Mike Braun, the Indiana Adjunct General Larry Muennich, Senator Aaron Freemen, Franklin Mayor Steve Barnett, Indiana State Daughters of the American Revolution Regent Elaine Sholty, MG Ret. R. Martin Umbarger, Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs Director Jake Adams, and officials from the Department of Indiana American Legion, VFW Department of Indiana, Indiana DAV, Civil Air Patrol, and others.
Jill Fewell is the Executive Director of Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans and the 50th Vietnam War Commemoration State Chair for the Indiana Daughters of the American Revolution. She also received the DoD Vietnam War Commemorative Appreciation award in 2024 at the National DAR Continental Congress
