The Museum of Flight hosts multiple events each year focused on veterans. These events range in attendance from 100-300 individuals. The list includes Vietnam War Veterans Day in March, Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day in May, an annual Tribute Plaque Ceremony for our own Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park in May, and Veterans Day in November. In addition, the Museum's Public Program team facilitate several military-themed programs throughout the year. At each of these programs, Vietnam veterans are invited to stand and be recognized and presented with lapel pins if they have not already received them.
In addition, our Docent Corps made up of more than 250 volunteers, more than a dozen of which are Vietnam Veterans, presents lapel pins to veterans on a daily basis as part of their regular duties. One of these Docents also represents the Museum of Flight's Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park, Project Recover, and Puget Sound Honor Flight at annual state conventions. Several of these Docents, and members of our regular staff also keep a supply of pins and materials with them for presenting to veterans we encounter in public settings such as grocery and hardware stores.
