The Museum of Flight hosts multiple events each year focused on veterans. These events range in attendance from 100-300 individuals. The list includes Vietnam War Veterans Day in March, Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day in May, an annual Tribute Plaque Ceremony for our own Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park in May, and Veterans Day in November. In addition, the Museum's Public Program team facilitate several military-themed programs throughout the year. At each of these programs, Vietnam veterans are invited to stand and be recognized and presented with lapel pins if they have not already received them. In addition, our Docent Corps made up of more than 250 volunteers, more than a dozen of which are Vietnam Veterans, presents lapel pins to veterans on a daily basis as part of their regular duties. One of these Docents also represents the Museum of Flight's Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park, Project Recover, and Puget Sound Honor Flight at annual state conventions. Several of these Docents, and members of our regular staff also keep a supply of pins and materials with them for presenting to veterans we encounter in public settings such as grocery and hardware stores.

Increasing numbers of Vietnam Veterans are living with serious illness and enrolling in hospice care. As a Level 5 We Honor Veteran partner and as a 50th Anniversary Vietnam War Commemorative Partner, we aim to honor every Veteran under our care with an individualized pinning ceremony. The interdisciplinary team gathers with the Veteran patients and their family and friends to provide special recognition which includes receiving a flag pin (all Veterans), the Vietnam War Commemorative Lapel Pin and Presidential Proclamations (Vietnam Veterans), a Certificate, a homemade blanket, and a special acknowledgement card. A special reading is facilitated by the interdisciplinary team and the patient is thanked for their service, on behalf of a grateful nation. This ceremony and recognition provides closure for the Veteran and their family during this challenging time at end of life. Last year we served 387 Veteran patients of which 102 served in the Vietnam War. We expect the number of Vietnam War Veterans served to increase each year.

This is not one event - I am the Veteran Coordinator for Infinity Hospice Care, Reno, NV. I am partnered with the We Honor Veterans program with the DOD and my responsibilities are to honor veterans that come onto our service at their end of life. I complete a WHV pinning ceremony for the veteran an their family which includes veterans from WWII to Afghanistan. Have a lot of Vietnam veterans coming onto service now and that means honoring them with the Vietnam War lapel pin. I would like to request 100 lapel pins to last my fiscal year.

It is my hope to visit all nursing homes in the Fort Collins, CO area over the next couple of years and have a ceremony at each one honoring Vietnam Veterans who may not be able to get out to other ceremonies. These hero's deserve to be thanked before its too late. We have a dedicated group of volunteers at the Elks who would make sure each ceremony would be special. I don't know how many there are out there.With over 30 assisted living facilities in the area, I would like to order 200 pins if available. This would be an ongoing project. It would be an honor to do this. I am filling in blanks with approximate numbers. I honestly don't know how many Vietnam/Vietnam era Veterans are living in assisted living. I need to make sure I can get the items first then dive in. Thank you.

We will be conducting approximately 60 events: 8 Major airshow, 10 medium airshows, 20 ride events and whole bunch of small/local flyovers, static displays. We will be ALL over the Nation at various times and dates beginning with Atlanta NASCAR Ambetter 400 in February through Veterans Day in mid November. We will be passing out these awards to numerous Veteran events. That's why we are asking for such large amount so we can then disperse them to our other chapters as well. Senior center will invite all Vietnam Veterans to their Functions room. Some Vietnam Veterans will be from the local community and all Residents will be invited. Each Vietnam veteran will be pinned and handed a proclamation during a ceremony Welcoming and Honoring them Home. There will be Cake and Ice Cream for all that attend afterwards.

The names of the 98 from Lorain County who gave their lives in Vietnam will be read. A bell will be rung after each name is read. There will be speakers. The Nathan Perry Chapter will provide a pinning ceremony for any Vietnam Veterans in attendance who have not yet received their pins. They will also be given certificates and bumper stickers etc.

Wreaths Across America has been holding a variety of events where Vietnam Veterans are presented with the 50th Anniversary Comemorative Pin and Presidential Proclamations. We have exhausted our current supply. Last night, 20 March, we presented 21 Vietnam Veterans with pins and proclamations. We anticipate more ceremonies throughout the year.

In Washington state we present the Vietnam Commemorative Pin at various ceremonies where we honor our Vietnam veterans. on May 25 for Memorial Day, the SC Confederate Relic Room & Military Museum, a Vietnam War Commemorative partner and a nationally accredited museum by the American Alliance of Museums, will host three programs, with audience and veteran participation on Vietnam War medicine and surgery. The program will feature Silver Star (2) Recipient Dr. Alden Sweatman of the 25th Div,, US Army Vietnam 1967-1968, US Army Nurse Linda Caldwell who also served 1967-1968a the Qui Nong hospital, and Capt. Alex Miller, 4th Infantry Division, who was severely wounded in combat and whose life was saved by Vietnam War medical personnel. This event will also feature a major array of Vietnam War medical equipment and supplies as well as the Museum's award-winning exhibit, "A War with No Front Lines: South Carolina and the Vietnam War, 1965 - 1973.

This was so successful that we plan to do it again this year. Veterans were very appreciative. We also gave away pins at our Wreaths Across America wreath-laying event, and when the Martha Ibbetson chapter members went out to lunch afterward, we also gave a pin to a veteran in the restaurant (he was wearing a Vietnam veteran hat).
