12:00 AM - 12:00 AM
On April 20th, Stars and Stripes Honor Flight will honor 120 Vietnam War Veterans as part of Mission 73, a flight to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials built in our veterans' honor. Our veterans will arrive at Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, WI, be treated to breakfast and will board specially chartered planes for their special day of honor, gratitude and respect. After visiting many of the memorials including a special stop at Arlington National Cemetery for the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknowns, we will head back to Milwaukee, where our veterans will receive the "Welcome Home" most never received. On the return flight, we will present personalized MAIL CALL envelopes with letters of appreciation for each veteran, secretly collected from family, friends, community members and dignitaries in our state. It is during this time that veterans also will receive the 50th Commemoration pins we are requesting. Upon arrival in Milwaukee, thousands of people--along with cheer squads and a band--will give our veterans a Homecoming they will long remember.
