Morning, Maj Stretch and SFC(P) Davalos:
BLUF – request event approval to support a last-minute VFW Post 1503 and MOPH Chapter 1775 (both are CPs) picnic in Dale City, VA, and set up a booth on Tuesday, 4 July.
Received a call last night from Commander Dom Dionne if I was attending the picnic, which led to a discussion of T&Hing our VVs prior to feeding the masses, followed by the presentation of VVLPs. Based on past years, 1000 – 1200 picnic attendees are expected … not sure how many VVs, but could easily approach 150 VVs. Fysa, VFW Post 1503 is the largest post in the Nation, and our older veterans are still the most active post and chapter members.
I could easily set up a booth at the main pavilion, adjacent to the food distro point, that would ensure that we catch and greet every VV that is at the picnic during the period 1200-1400 hrs. Post Cdr Dionne will be the lead VVLP presenter, and I could easily recruit members of MOPH 1503 to assist if Cdr Dionne and I get overwhelmed.
But wait, there’s more … I sent an email to Marie Vayer to see if any PW Resolve Chapter NSDAR (8th most active CP) was available to attend the picnic and work their magical touch. Marie lives nearby, ¼ mile from the Post. If she accepts, this will free me up to work the crowd and catch any VVs that are hidden.
2956 following this morning. I would pick up the booth and material this weekend after dropping off my family at DCA.
